Kristin Mansell

Dr. Kristin Mansell is a former science educator with over twenty years of experience as a secondary science teacher. As a practitioner, she received National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Science in 2009 and renewed in 2019. Additionally, she was awarded Utah’s 7th grade science teacher of the year in 2023 by the Utah Science Teacher Association. Kristin has presented at the Alabama Science Teacher Association, Utah Science Teacher Association, and the National Science Teacher Association Conferences multiple times focusing on the use of formative assessments in the science classroom as well as innovate inquiry methods using argumentative inquiry.

Kristin most recently worked at Washington Fields Intermediate School in St. George, Utah. At this school, she was a member of the guiding coalition and the science department lead. As a teacher-leader, Kristin helped this school become a powerful professional learning community, ensuring high levels of learning for all students. In 2022, Washington Fields was awarded both Model PLC School status and Model Middle School status due to its unmatched growth within the district and state. Kristin has worked with stakeholders around Utah to implement these pedagogical strategies and has presented implementation guidelines around the country based on student academic success at Washington Fields.
